American War of Independence, 1781
In the Battle of Guildford Courthouse the Royal Welsh Fusiliers were in the front line of troops to march through a rain sodden ploughed field up towards a well entrenched enemy. Breaking through, the Fusiliers fought a close action through brushwood and forest to pursue the broken enemy until exhaustion overcame them.
